What you’ll need to succeed as a Senior Accountant at XPO

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience

  • 2 years of accounting or financial reporting experience

  • Solid math aptitude

Preferred qualifications:

  • Masters Degree Accounting, Finance or Business

  • CPA certification

  • 3 or more years of accounting or financial reporting experience, preferably with a Big Four accounting firm

  • 1 year of experience working in a medium to large, multinational company, preferably with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management tools (HFM, Hyperion Essbase or other financial reporting/consolidation software)

  • Solid ability to understand and research large amounts of data from multiple sources

About the Senior Accountant job

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Assist with consolidation of legal entities

  • Be responsible for accounting areas of coverage with a focal point around risk, medical, benefits, auto liability, workers comp, and more.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of timely accounting information, analysis and reporting following with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures

  • Accurately and efficiently maintain the general ledger accounts; analyze, understand and interpret trends and variances and explain fluctuations

  • Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting closes for areas of functional responsibility

  • Support external audit, internal audit and SOX compliance

  • Complete and oversee monthly reconciliations of corporate-managed self-insurance reserves, and reconciliation and intercompany accounts

  • Complete and oversee monthly shared service allocations

  • Support the preparation and distribution of monthly accounting management reports and statistical analysis data for areas of responsibility

  • Complete respective SOX controls and related testing procedures

  • Ad hoc analysis and process improvement projects
